World number 1 Andy Murray will donate his prize money accumulated in the Aegon Championships – known as Queen’s Club –  to the families of the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire.

Finsbury Park terror attack:

A van has ploughed into people near the Finsbury Park MosqueLondon in north London, injuring nine people, and killing one.

A white 48-year old man had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and is now also being held on suspicion of terrorist offences.

Fire at London’s Grenfell Tower:

A fire that engulfed London’s Grenfell Tower has claimed the lives of twelve people, with many still unaccounted.

The fire was reported in Kensington at 00:54 BST, and subsequently engulfed numerous floors in the 24-storey building. The fire is belived to have been started on the fourth floor, but it is currently unknown what caused it.

Tim Farron resigns as Lib Dem leader:

The leader of the Liberal Democrats – Tim Farron – has resigned after he said that being a political leader, and living as a commited Christian had “has felt impossible”.

Tim Farron has said that he has faced “scrutiny” over matters regarding his faith, which has come up several times after comments he made regarding gay sex.

Rafael Nadal defeats Stan Wawrinka in straight sets: 6-2 6-3 6-1 to claim “La Decima” (10 titles) at the French Open.

Rafael Nadal has extended his Grand Slam count to 15 with his straight sets victory, and is the only player in the open era to win 10 titles at the same event.

Northern Ireland’s Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) have came to an agreement – a “confidence and supply” deal – with the Conservative Party which will form the basis of Theresa May’s minority government.

Jelena Ostapenko defeats Simona Halep to win her first Grand Slam title:

The 20-year old Latvian produced a sublime display of tennis as she fought back to win her first Grand Slam title at the French Open.

Ostapenko was unseeded and had never played in the final of a Grand Slam before, but she seemed at home as she broke Simona Halep’s serve in the very first game. However, some unforced errors began to creep into her game, and she eventually went down a set and 3-0.
