World number 1 Andy Murray will donate his prize money accumulated in the Aegon Championships – known as Queen’s Club –  to the families of the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire.

The donation could be as large as £348,000 should Andy Murray claim a historic sixth title on the famed grass courts of Queen’s Club.

Upon his victory in 2013, the British number 1 made a donation of £73,000 to the Royal Marsden Hospital, who treated his friend – Ross Hutchins – for Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The event was upgraded to an ATP 500 event in 2015, which offers more ranking points, and higher prize money.

Andy Murray’s bid to win a sixth historic title – and third in succession – begins on Tuesday against Britain’s Aljaž Bedene.
